Good trip to Bimini

I went on a Bimini day trip last month, and it was pretty chill. The ferry left on time, and the ride wasn't too long. Just grabbed some snacks on board. It was a nice way to spend the day without too much hassle.

Solid value for a quick getaway

I was looking for a cheap way to get to the Bahamas and found a pretty good deal on a round trip Fort Lauderdale to Bimini ferry ticket. The base fare was reasonable, and even with port fees, it still felt like a good value compared to flying. I packed light to avoid excess baggage fees. The whole trip felt worth what I paid for it, especially for a short escape.

Amazing Bimini adventure

I just got back from a Hilton at Resorts World Bimini package and it was fantastic! The fast ferry from Fort Lauderdale was so quick, and the whole booking process was super easy. The hotel was gorgeous and getting around Bimini was a breeze. I had such a good time, I'm already planning my next trip! Definitely recommending this to all my friends!

Detailed Grand Bahama ferry experience

I booked a round trip Fort Lauderdale to Grand Bahama ferry ticket online. The booking process was straightforward, though I noticed the port fees are added separately. We arrived about 2 hours early as suggested, and boarding was smooth. We chose premium economy seating which was comfortable enough for the ride. Onboard, the cafeteria had basic options; I got a coffee. Delivery of luggage was efficient upon arrival. No issues with customer support, as I didn't need to contact them. The ferry itself felt well-maintained, and overall it was a solid travel experience. Just remember to factor in the port fees when budgeting.

Hey guys, thinking of booking a day trip to Bimini. Anyone know if the Florida resident discount applies to the hotel packages too, or just the ferry ride?

D Dana 1 month ago
I think it's usually just the ferry part, or maybe a specific 'ferry + hotel' deal that already has the resident discount built in. I tried to stack it once and it didn't work.

P Phil Kim 1 month ago
Nah, from my experience, resident discounts are almost always only for the ferry tickets themselves. The packages usually have their own separate deals, so check those out too!

Trying to compare Balearia with FRS for a trip to Grand Bahama. Has anyone used both and can tell me which one is better/faster/more reliable?

C Cody 1 month ago
Balearia is generally pretty good, sails fast. I haven't taken FRS in years but I remember Balearia being a bit more consistent with departure times.

I've done both! Balearia felt a bit more organized at the port, and the ride was smooth. FRS was okay, but I prefer Balearia for the comfort and less hassle with boarding, personally. For speed, they're pretty similar since they're both fast ferries.

wondering how long the ferry ride actually takes from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini. Their website says like 2 hours but is that accurate, or does it usually run longer?

B Ben 3 weeks ago
It's usually pretty close to the 2 hours, sometimes a little less if the weather's good. Never really experienced a huge delay on the water itself.

Yeah, 2 hours is about right for the travel time. What can make it feel longer is the whole boarding and disembarking process, especially on busy days. So factor in port time on top of the actual sailing time.

What's the deal with pets? I want to take my small dog with me to Bimini for a day, is it even possible or too much of a hassle?

O Omar 2 weeks ago
It's totally possible! My friend took her chihuahua. You gotta get a pet travel permit beforehand, and they have specific areas where the pets can be on the ferry. It's a bit of paperwork but worth it if you can't leave your furry friend.

You can do it but you need a special permit and there are rules. It's not like they just let them roam. Check their site, it's pretty clear about the process.

So, how strict are they about the baggage allowance? Like, if my carry-on is a little bit over, will they charge me extra right away?

R Renee 1 month ago
They can be pretty strict, especially if it's clearly oversized or you have a bunch of bags. Better to play it safe than get hit with fees at the port.

Yeah, I saw someone get charged for an extra bag that looked only slightly bigger than what was allowed. They don't mess around, definitely weigh it beforehand if you're worried.
